ART PROJECTS FOR KIDS: SWEET SISTINES

Raining outside?  Need to mix up the indoor routine? Sweet Sistines is a fun, new art project for kids. Get smART and do some ART!

First, plan to make "art smocks" out of paper grocery bags, plastic garbage bags, or old adult t-shirts.

Next, show your child a picture of Michaelangelo's murals on the Sistine Chapel ceiling (such as the portion of one you see to the left).  Visual aids would be great, but a discussion of the physical challenges would suffice.

Then, direct your children to look under your table.  Have a large piece of paper taped under the table or a series of paper grocery bags taped together.  This is where your children will work and create their own mural scene while lying flat on their backs (and you might want to throw down some old sheets/towels as drop cloths!).

When their work art project is complete, unfasten the paintings and look into hanging them on your ceiling.

Make sure to add your special touch to the masterpiece as well; it’s a great art project for kids, but fun knows no age limits!
