SEPTEMBER – LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH

Library Card Sign-up Month (September): Library Card Sign-up Month is a national effort to get every child a library card. Not coincidentally it’s also just in time for the start of the school year. Their own library card is not only the key to unlocking worlds of wonder, excitement and learning, it also teaches them something about being a responsible member of their community.

Tip: The same day they receive their library card, give each child a small notebook and encourage them to start a personal “reading journal” where they keep a record of what they’ve read.
