OCTOBER – ANIMAL DAY
Animal Day (International): World Animal Day coincides with the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. Get down with the critter kingdom today, whether you fill a bird feeder, take the kids to a petting zoo or make a donation to a wildlife cause.
Tip: Have your kids each read up on an endangered animal. In a group they pretend to be that animal. Without divulging what kind of animal they are, they answer questions from other group members, e.g., Where do you live? Can you fly? Are you an herbivore or a carnivore? They keep answering until someone guesses their animal.
