MAY 18TH – MUSEUM DAY
The International Council of Museums in Paris, France, and the American Association of Museums in Washington, D.C., would like to invite everyone to visit a museum today. Art, science, history sites, military and maritime - museums have something for every interest! Furthermore, the world's top museum organizations remind us that these facilities are "an important means of cultural exchange," fostering the development of "mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among people."
Tip: If you cannot make it to a museum in or around your community today, have your child pick a topic that he/she enjoys talking/reading about and help them discover by searching online or visiting the library if there is a museum dedicated to that topic somewhere in the world. Does your child want to visit that museum today? Have them recreate the museum at home by imagining what information would be there -- draw pictures or find objects around the house that would make your child one of the youngest museum curators the world has ever seen. Beware -- your young curator may even charge you and the neighbors admission!
