Toni M. Schulken, MS, OTR/L is a pediatric occupational therapist, inventor, president of Pathways for Learning, Inc. (a private pediatric practice and comprehensive Learning center), a devoted wife, and a proud mother of 5 young children. She graduated from California State University, Northridge with a BA in Child Development: Mental Health Specialist Option in 1990. She earned her MS in Occupational Therapy: Pediatric Tract from Towson University in 1995. She is considered an expert in her field in the areas of handwriting, fine and perceptual motor treatment and sensory processing disorder. Toni has worked with more than 1,000 children in public schools, private schools, hospitals, private therapy clinics and in their homes. She has also been Published in Dysphasia and Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology. She speaks regionally in North Carolina to teachers, parents and occupational therapists on the subjects of sensory integration and handwriting, and teaches a national continuing education course for occupational therapist and related professionals entitled Discover Writing Success: A mutli-sensory and perceptual motor treatment approach to screening, evaluating and treating handwriting deficits. In addition to helping Mead develop Writing Fundamentals, she is the inventor of the Grotto Grip®, a specialized pencil grip that trains the muscles of the hand to hold the pencil correctly; and the CATT™ (Classroom Accommodations Tools and Techniques) Center by Integrations® which is a comprehensive program to guide teachers in intervention and data collection for struggling elementary-aged students. |
