APRIL 3RD – MAIL IS BORN!

Before there was email there was the birth of "snail mail," known as the Pony Express. On April 3, 1860, the first successful run commenced, carrying postal items from Missouri to California.

Tip: Pick someone to send a letter to today & attach a sticky note or special note in the mailbox to thank your mail carrier for all he/she does. BONUS -- find a map of the United States and help your child find the state of Missouri and the state of California. Have them guess how long it would take in an airplane, a car or on horseback for mail to go from the Show Me State to the Golden State.
